A Neighbourly Fix
17th February 2006
As the 2006 TV Week Logies approach in Australia Neighbours has hit the news but not in a positive way.
As with previous years competition is fierce for the coveted Australian awards which see Australian television and it's biggest celebrities gather for a glamorous ceremony. However fans of Neighbours star Natalie Bassingthwaighte are reported to be taking their voting to a new level with fan sites helping to coordinate a tactical approach to ensure the star is recognised at the event. The voting scheme has also seen less seemly tactics such as copying unique keys needed to vote from the TV Week magazines without purchase, which has ultimately seen others unable to vote as the codes in magazines they have bought are rejected during the voting process.
As things stand these voting schemes do not seem widespread and there have been no official response to the allegation of unfair voting. Fans of the star have also voiced there concern that some may be abusing the voting system, stating that if the schemes continue they may undermine any awards won by the Natalie Bassingthwaighte and the Neighbours team.
