The UK Celebrates 20 Years of Neighbours
21st October 2005

The U.K finally catches up with Australia and can join in with the 20th Anniversary Celebration with the series of special episodes being aired across the country as it was in Australia a few months ago.

These episodes were built up a few weeks in advance with a series of old cast members arriving back in Erisborough. The 20th Anniversary episode (aired on Tuesday 18th October 2005) saw a whole host of former cast members settle down in Erinsborough community hall and watch a video compilation documenting the residents of the street both past and present.

This unique plotline allowed for characters such as Lance, Phil, Lucy Robinson and many more to catch up (and settle a few past feuds). The video saw other members making there contribution to the celebrations who couldn't make it to the set. Nina Tucker amongst others graced the screen and raised smiles and cheers of support amongst the gathered viewers. Current stories were not overlooked though with the truth finally catching up with Izzy Hoyland ending in a highly charged scene in the middle of the Erinsborough complex in which Karl finally washed his hands her.

This anniversary episode gathered 44% and 23% of the total TV watching audience at the time. Viewers were also treated to a special program "20 Years of Neighbours: A Celebration" which saw Andi Peters visit the Ramsay Street set in Australian giving a behind the scenes look at the show and featuring interviews with many of the cast.
